Lakeside is located in northwestern Ohio in Ottawa County near the mouth of Sandusky Bay just west of Marblehead.
Outdoor recreation abounds as the little town is situated on the shores of Lake Erie and five miles southeast by ferry from Cedar Point Amusement Park as well as the same distance east of East Harbor State Park. Catawba Island State Park is just over 10 miles northwest of town.
The town's origins indicate that it was a resort area and used for spiritual retreats as well. The architecture is dominated by the Victorian style of the 19th century. Today, the gated community can be accessed by the public in order to take in the local activities in the Rhein Center for the Arts, Hoover Auditorium and the Orchestra Hall. Daily and season passes are available.
