New Plymouth is located in southeastern Ohio in Vinton County about 50 miles southeast of Columbus and 15 miles west of Athens. Area recreation is close at hand at Lake Hope, Lake Hope State Park and Zaleski State Forest about 5 miles south and Waterloo Forest about 10 miles to the southeast. In addition, the town is in the midst of Wayne National Forest.
