St. Clairsville is located in eastern Ohio in Belmont County (of which it is the county seat) east of Columbus along I-70 about 10 miles west of the Ohio River. Belmont Hills Country Club designed by Devereux Emmet in 1924, is a private facility but with a reciprocal guest agreement in place for members of other clubs. It features an 18-hole layout of 6,300 yards and plays to a par of 72. Nearby recreation centers around Belmont Lake and Barkcamp State Park about 10 miles west of town and Piedmont Lake, about 15 miles to the west-northwest.
