Carl Albert State College is located in Poteau, in Le Flore County southeast of Muskogee near the Arkansas state line. It was founded in 1933 as Poteau Junior College and later renamed in honor the U.S. Congressman and Speaker of the House. With over 3,500 students on three campuses, CASC is the fourth largest community college in the state. In addition to Associates degrees, a cooperative effort in conjunction with Northeastern State University and University of Oklahoma allows students to earn Bachelor's degrees as well.
