Clinton is located in west central Oklahoma in Custer County west of Weatherford along Highway 183 just off Interstate 40.
The town is home to the Oklahoma portion of the Oklahoma Route 66 Museum. The museum has six rooms, each dedicated to a specific decade in the life and times of America's most nostalgic roadway.
Other area attractions include Flashback Memorabilia with a 1949 Ford mounted on the side of their building; the The Mohawk Lodge Indian Store, built in 1892 and the Cheyenne Cultural Center.
The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 8,707, a decrease of 591 since 1990.
