Edmond is located central Oklahoma in Oklahoma County just north of Oklahoma City on historic Route 66 just off Interstate 35 near the Cimarron River. It is the home of University of Central Oklahoma and is just minutes west of Arcadia Lake.

Among the local attractions are the Edmond Historical Society Museum and the UCO Special Collections/Archives.

The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 64,962, an increase of 12,652 since 1990.
