Hobart is located in southwestern Oklahoma and is the county seat of Kiowa County. It lies just west of U.S. Highway 183, 20 miles south of Cordell. The area is known for its production of large amounts of wheat and cotton as well as beef.
For museum buffs, the old Rock Island Depot (built in about 1910) now houses the Kiowa County Museum with its collection First Nation artifacts, period furnishings, antiques and memorabilia. In addition, the Old City Hall Auditorium, built in the early 1900's, hosts a select number of Shortgrass Theater productions.
