This site offers various scenic cruises. The 5 hour cruise travels 40 miles from North Bay to the Upper French River as far as the Chaudeire Dam area. A 4 hour cruise will take visitors to Gibraltar Strait, a scenic passage on the Upper French River. A 3-hour cruise takes visitors to Callander Bay or the South Bay of Lake Nipissing. During the cruise, a video-tape is shown giving fascinating insights into the region's vivid past, from early Native settlements to the steamboat era on the lake. Operated by The City of North Bay, the Chief Commanda II is built of aluminum in the double-hulled, catamaran style for stability. It is equipped with a modern radar system, safety equipment and complete washroom facilities. The 100-foot vessel offers food and bar services on deck, and a catering service for chartered cruises.
