Great Canadian Theatre Company's aim is to foster, produce and promote excellent theatre that provokes an examination of Canadian life and its place in the world. It is committed to the production of new Canadian works through the play development program. Each season it commissions emerging and established playwrights and workshops new plays. It also operates The Playwrights’ Unit, which gives playwrights the opportunity to work with a dramaturg during the development process of their piece.
