The J. Marhoffer, a small freighter, sank just offshore in 1910. Its boiler washed ashore here (which is still visible at low tide), and Boiler Bay got its name. This state scenic viewpoint offers picnic facilities and some fine photo opportunities. The site also offers opportunities for whale watching and is one of the best sites in Oregon for ocean-going bird watching.
