Cape Meares, 10 miles west of
Tillamook, is at the north end of the beautiful 20-mile Three Capes Scenic Loop. Located on the cape is Cape Meares State Scenic Viewpoint, a day use area with interesting viewpoints, interpretive panels, four miles of trails, several natural attractions, and an historic 1890s lighthouse.
A popular attraction at the park is the unusually large Sitka spruce known as the Octopus Tree, with a diameter of more than 10 feet at its base.
The boundaries of Cape Meares State Park also encompass the 138-acre Cape Meares National Wildlife Refuge.
Cape Meares is an excellent location for spring and winter whale watching.
