Cottage Grove Lake project, on the Coast Fork of the
Willamette River, is about 5 miles south of
Cottage Grove. The dam is an earthfill structure with concrete spillway, which impounds 33,000 acre-feet of water at full pool.
The lake and its shoreline are used for boating, swimming, water skiing, fishing, (bass, trout and catfish), picnicking and camping. Visitors may camp at Pine Meadows Campground or Primitive Campground on the east side of the lake. Three day-use parks--Wilson Creek, Lakeside Park, and Shortridge--are along the shoreline.
The shoreline is managed to provide habitat for a wide variety of wildlife species, including waterfowl, blacktail deer, upland game birds, bald eagles and many other species.
