Dundee is located in
Yamhill County, southwest of
Portland, between
Newberg and
McMinnville along
Highway 99W on the banks of the
Willamette River.
The town was founded by a group of pioneer families. It was named for the home of William Reid from Dundee, Scotland.
Fertile soil and benevolent weather contribute to the proliferation of vineyards and groves in the Dundee area. Plums, filberts and English walnuts are the major area crops.

Popular attractions for the area include: Several fine restaurants, Riverwood Golf Course, Bald Peak State Park and Dundee Decades (music and dancing, is celebrated on various Friday evenings during the summer). Wineries include: Argyle Winery, Cameron Winery, Domaine Drouhin Oregon, Duck Pond Cellars, Erath Vineyards, Lange Winery, Sokol Blosser Winery, The Eyrie Vineyards and Torii Mor Winery.
