The views possible from this area are incredible. On a clear day, a visitor can see Steens Mountain far to the east, Mt Lassen to the south in California, and the Three Sisters peaks in Central Oregon.
Picturesque rock formations can be seen in the high elevations. Gearhart Mountain is at the boundary between the coastal and desert zones. Its network of ridges were cut by ancient glaciers and present-day streams. It ranges in elevation from 5,900 feet to 8,364 feet at the summit.
