Eastern Oregon University is located in La Grande, with an enrollment of about 2,400 Union County students.
Eastern is situated in northeastern Oregon, nestled in the beautiful Grande Ronde valley. The Wallowa Mountains and Eaglecap Wilderness region provide numerous opportunities for Outdoor Activities, i.e., downhill and cross country skiing, rafting, hunting and fishing, backpacking and water-skiing. Eastern also serves as the cultural center for the region, providing facilities for Oregon's oldest continuous symphony orchestra, musical performances, art exhibits and outstanding theater productions.
The various Academic Programs include: the School of Arts & Sciences; the School of Education & Business; the Division of Distance Education; Nursing and Agricultural Sciences. They also feature a Computer Science/Multimedia Studies stand-alone Program.
Pierce Library's collection includes over 135,000 book volumes and 1,300 periodical titles and totals over 400,000 items.
