Southwestern Oregon Community College is located in Coos County, two miles from the , two miles from the [pacocean] in an area of scenic beauty and mild climate. The 153-acre institution lies completely within the city of [coosbay] and is bordered on the north and east by sister city [northben]. Enrollment has grown from 266 students in 1961 to over 11,000 students. Staff size has grown from 15 to more than 80 full-time faculty and from 11 to over 275 part-time instructors. Areas of study are varied and include Horticulture, Machine Tool Technology, Forensics and Surgical Tecnology.
