Built in 1846 by Dr. John McLoughlin, who was the chief representative of the Hudsons Bay Company. After the British gave up their claims to Oregon, he remained and became a prominent citizen of the Oregon Territory.
The home is now a National Park Unit, part of Fort Vancouver National Historic Site, and is owned and operated by the National Park Service. There is no fee charged for your visit and tour of the McLoughlin House.
