McMinnville is located in
Yamhill County (of which is the county seat), southwest of
Portland, between
Lafayette and
Amity, positioned along
Highway 99W near the
Willamette River.
The City of McMinnville was named and founded by William T. Newby in 1843. Newby was a pioneer from McMinnville, Tennessee.
Before gaining its glamorous reputation as a wine-producing center, McMinnville was known as the home of Linfield College, established in 1857. Points of interest include the Renshaw Art Gallery and the Linfield Little Theatre.
Currently, McMinnville is the wine-making center of Oregon.
