Oregon Institute of Technology is located in
Klamath County and has an enrollment of about 2400. Student housing is available for 450.
OIT is the only accredited institute of technology in the Pacific Northwest. Its primary mission is to serve Oregon through quality traditional four-year bachelor's degree programs of instruction, public service, and applied research in areas of engineering, business and health technologies and nursing at the main campus. Established in 1947, OIT attracts students from throughout the Northwest and many foreign countries, particularly in the Pacific Rim.
They also offer degree completion programs at a number of other locations, including Portland, Bend, Fort Lewis and the Boeing Commercial Airlines Group in the Seattle area.
OIT has done extensive research in the "Geothermal" arena. A study identified 271 cities and communities with a population of 7.4 million in the 10 western states that could potentially utilize geothermal energy.
