There are three components to the center. The Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall is a restored 1928 vaudeville house. The Oregon Symphony Orchestra and other musical groups perform here.

Across the street is the New Theatre Building with two performance spaces that host the Oregon Ballet Theatre and others. The Civic Auditorium at 222 SW Clay presents performances by the Portland Opera, the Oregon Ballet Theater and other groups.
