This community is located in
Jackson County within the beautiful Southern Oregon
Cascade Mountains. Prospect is situated northeast of
Eagle Point along Hwy 62 and the Scenic
Rogue River. Prospect offers a perfect destination for serious outdoorsmen and city-folk alike.
Originally known as Deskins, the town received its name from the prospect of a railroad passing through to the Rogue Valley. Prospect became nationally known in the late 1800s and early 1900s as the halfway point between Crater Lake National Park and the Rogue Valley. Visitors such as Theodore Roosevelt, Jack London, William Jennings Bryant, Zane Grey, and Herbert Hoover spent time at the Prospect Historical Hotel on their way to see the splendor of this Natural Wonder of the World.
Today travelers can enjoy the many hiking trails, majestic waterfalls, mountains and natural beauty of the area.
