Scio is located east of Albany along State Hwy 226, between Crabtree and Lyons in Linn County. The first settler named this small community "The Forks of the Santiam," after the confluence of the north and south forks of the Santiam River some seven miles west. It was later named Scio, after Scio, Ohio. Some of the descendants of the original pioneer families still live on their original donation land claims. Boating and River Tours, Hiking and Fishing are a few of the many popular Outdoor Activities for the surrounding Scio area. There is also a Scio, Ohio.
