Summer Lake is located in
Lake County, between
Silver Lake and
Paisley along Hwy 31, providing a wayside for travelers. The town itself is in two sections one mile apart, making it a unique destination.
Situated on an important Pacific flyway, Summer Lake Wildlife Refuge hosts both migratory and indigenous birds of great variety. Blue herons, pelicans, eagles and even hummingbirds are found here. Thousands of ducks and geese enjoy the water and marshes as well.
Evidence of ancient Native Americans are in reverence to the land, which abounds in the revealing of well-preserved petroglyphs. Images depicting hunting, wildlife and many other scenes have been etched into the stone.
Great Fishing (rainbow, brook and brown trout) with many rivers and lakes in the area are readily available. Trophy bass have also been caught in local Ana Reservoir.
Other Outdoor Activities include hiking, cycling, horseback riding and winter sports such as skiing and snowmobiling.
