Highway 58 crosses the Willamette Pass at almost exactly a mile above sea level, 5128 feet to be exact. The pass represents the major connection between Eugene, Highway 58 and south bound Highway 97 to Shasta Cascade Region of Northern California. In the vicinity of the summit are several lakes, including Waldo Lake, Crescent Lake, and Odell Lake. The Diamond Peak Wilderness Area is immediately to the south of the pass.
