Ebensburg is located in Cambria County, of which it is the county seat, northeast of Johnstown between Altoona and Indiana along US Highway 422 near the Glendale Dam. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 3,627, a decrease of 245 since 1990. Ebensburg is part of the Johnstown, Pennsylvania metro area.
