Johnstown is located in southwestern Pennsylvania within Cambria County, east of Pittsburgh along Highway 56 near the North Fork Reservoir.
Johnstown is known as "The Friendly City," Johnstown is a national leader in technology, and is listed as the most affordable city in the nation by Forbes magazine. The famous Johnstown flood of May 1889 brought about disaster to the community - thousands were killed and most of the city was destroyed. The destruction is on display at the Johnstown Flood Museum.
Johnstown is also the site of the Johnstown Inclinded Plane, which, at 71% grade, is the steepest vehicular inclined plane in the world.
