The church was built between 1824 and 1829 in the Gothic Revival style. Its original exterior was replaced during the period 1874 to 1880. The church features an electro-pneumatic Casavant organ with 5772 pipes, and stained glass windows by Francis Chigot, depicting episodes from the history of Montreal.
