Also known as Iglesia Porta Coeli is located in Sangerma on a knoll at one end of the town. Dating from 1606, this is the oldest church in the New World. Restored by the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture, it contains a museum of art with a collection of santos, the carved figures of saints, a fixture in Puerto Rican folk art. There are 17th century portraits, choral books, carvings and 19th century statues. Open Tuesday from 9am-4pm.
