Bishopville is located in Lee County (of which it is the county seat) along Highway 15 on the banks of the Lynches River near Lee State Park. The county seat of Lee County, Bishopville is midway between Columbia and Florence.
Incorporated in 1888, Bishopville is the Lee County Seat. Its City Hall was purchased and renovated in 1997 and is home for the administrative offices of the city. The people of Lee County are part of South Carolina's largest cotton-producing county. US Highway 15, which runs through the middle of town, was one of the premier north-south routes from New York to Miami.
Bishopville is home to several Bed & Breakfasts or motels conveniently located near the interstate and downtown. Or for the adventurous, camp at Lee State Park. RV parking and tent spaces are available complete with electricity and running water.
