Riverbanks is home to more than 2,000 magnificent, fascinating and exotic animals, as well as 70 acres of scenic river views, spectacular valley overlooks and beautiful landscapes. Riverbanks has provided individuals and groups with a place to learn about the world's wildlife and wild places. Winner of the 2002 Governor's Cup for Most Outstanding Tourist Attraction in South Carolina, Riverbanks is the premier family choice for education and recreation in the Southeast.
The Riverbanks Zoo and Garden is ranked among the top 10 zoos in the nation. It uses of water and light to create the illusion of privacy and wide open spaces for 2,000 animals is world famous. Visitors can see the feeding of the sea lions and penguins, or the tropical rainstorm in the birdhouse.
Riverbanks opens daily at 9:00 a.m. and closes at 4:00 p.m. Visitors may remain in the park until 5:00 p.m. The Zoo & Garden are open every day with the exception of Thanksgiving and Christmas Days.
