The drive up Bethlehem Road (recommended by AAA Travel guide) through scenic Elk Creek Canyon is a pleasurable part of a trip to Bethlehem Cave and Lodge. The road skirts the canyon, affording magnificent views of rock walls, dense forest and beautiful meadows.
The road ascends a tributary on the north, where water flows from Jones' spring. This spring is fed by Pahasapa water, which is pooled by the Vanocker Laccoliths to the north and runs out here as from a pitcher's spout. It is clear, cool and refreshing. Take some time and enjoy a hike up the canyon to visit nature.
