The museum offers a high-tech trip through 2.5 billion years of Black Hills history with hands-on displays. Visitors to the museum carry hand-held sound sticks that provide narration.

The Museum of Geology has two geology sites displaying such findings as dinosaur bones and marine reptiles. The Duhamel Collection includes traditional Sioux artifacts.

The Minnilusa Pioneer Museum Collection displays items that illustrate major industries, people, and events that shape the area from the time of the fur trade to the present. Guided tours are available with prior notice.
