In Great Lakes Region, Lake Andes is located in Charles Mix County (of which it is the county seat). At the intersection of Hwy 50 with US 281, it is close to a number of state recreation areas on the Missouri River. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 836, a decrease of 10 since 1990.
