In Great Lakes Region, Mound City is the county seat of Campbell County and is located near the northern border of the state on US 83 near Lake Campbell, approximately 15 miles east of the Missouri River. It takes its name from a Civil War battle resulting in the destruction of a Union gunboat, the Mound City, when a Confederate shell hit its munitions magazine.

Sully County Fair Onida SD August9-12 kicking off the fair with a parade through Onida on Thursday, at 6:27 p.m. The parade will end up at the fairgrounds where we will be having cake, refreshments and music.
