Lake Andes Carnegie Library, serving an area of 800 residents, has a collection of 11,500 books and periodicals; in addition, there are 29 CDs, records, cassettes and other audio materials. Internet terminals are available for use by the general public. Staffing consists of one employee, plus volunteers. Annual expenditures on the library collection total $3,700. Patrons make 2,000 visits annually, and check out materials 8,800 times. Nineteen percent of all check-outs are children's materials.
