South Dakota's only aviation museum is located near Ellsworth Air Force Base. Over 30 aircraft and missiles are on display in this indoor exhibit. This museum has over 28 aircraft and missiles on display indoors and outside. Admission is always free.
Ellsworth Air Force Base was established by the U.S. War Department on January 2, 1942. It was used as a training location for B-17 Flying Fortress crews. Thousands of pilots, radio operators, gunners, and navigators were trained at this base.
On display are the B29, B25, B26, C47, T-38 and 22 other vintage planes.
