Frisco is located in Collin County near Lake Dallas, on Hwy 289 at the northern edge of the Dallas, Texas metro area.
The community grew from 6,138 in 1990 to 58,787 in April of 2003, a 400% expansion in a decade, with still more growth projected.
When the post office was established in 1902, Frisco was a retail and shipping point for farmers, with a number of cotton gins and grain elevators and a Farmers Co-operative Gin Association. In 1914 the population was estimated at 1,000.
