The seat of Clay County, Henrietta is located 20 miles southeast of Wichita Falls on US 82/287 and Hwy 148, on the Burlington Northern Railroad and the Little Wichita River.
In the 1970s the population reached its zenith at 3,600; seventy-five businesses were in operation. By 1990 the population had dropped to 2,896. Manufacturing included travel trailers, windows, livestock feed, branding irons and equipment, and cowboy boots and saddles.
