Located about 22 miles north of Brackettville, the park comprises more than 6000 acres of the southern Edwards Plateau. Acquired in December, 1986, it was opened to the public on a limited basis in 1991. The park is currently undeveloped. Potential visitors must call the park prior to their visit to make arrangements.
Interesting features include 15 known caves, two of which are large enough to be significant. Kickapoo Cavern is approximately 1/4 mile long and boasts some impressive formations. Green Cave is slightly shorter. Staff-guided tours for Kickapoo Cavern are pre-arranged.
