Bruce Wood Dance Company was established in 1996 as a 501(c) (3) organization. It was formed as a showcase for the acclaimed choreography of Bruce Wood, the Company's artistic director. It consists of 12 professional dancers who work a 52-week season. It performs four times annually at the home theater, Bass Performance Hall. It has a rehearsal studio in the heart of the city's historical district, Fairmount Estates. In an effort to share the art of dance with neighborhood children, the Company's afternoon rehearsals are open and students are encouraged to stop by to watch. It also provides free performances for the children of these schools through the Performing Arts Fort Worth's Children's Education Program.
