Spanish fort established 1751 to protect Mission Santa Cruz de San Saba. When the mission experienced Indian hostility, they refused and in 1758 the Commanche overan the mission, killed many and burnt the mission. Presidio was abandoned in 1769. Two miles W of US 190.
