The seat of Guadalupe County, Seguin is located just east of San Antonio and south of San Marcos on I-10 and Hwy 46 out of New Braunfels on the banks of the Guadalupe River, and is home of the Texas Lutheran College campus.

On August 12, 1988, Seguin celebrated its Sesquicentennial year. By 1988 the population of Seguin was estimated at 22,000. In 1990 it was recorded as 18,823.

Seguin is part of the San Antonio, Texas metro area.
