The park and management area constitute a 2500-acre resource, located in northeast Harris County. Sheldon Reservoir has survived a tremendous influx of urbanization during the past 40 years. The park and management area remain as the last freshwater marsh habitat and refuge for various forms of wildlife within the city limits of the greater Houston area.

Primary activities are fishing, birding, wildlife and nature study, and canoeing. No camping is available.
