Covering almost a thousand acres in Smith County, north of Tyler, the park received its original improvements from the Civilian Conservation Corps and opened to the public in 1939. Activites include picnicking, camping, boating, birding, swimming, and nature study. Facilities include campsites, picnic areas, and a trailer rally area.
