The park contains the reconstructed 1836 stockade and cabins established by Miles Goodyear. The park, which encompasses 88 acres of wooded land, includes a visitor center and museum. The Weber River runs along the edge of the park, offering boating and fishing opportunities; canoe rentals are available. Mountain men gatherings are held in the area surrounding the park, during which Indian teepees are erected and visitors can view performances of native dancing. Located in Ogden, 35 miles north of Salt Lake City; park open April-November. There is fresh drinking water and modern rest rooms. Concession service is available but no gas.

For that reason, many residents of the Valley wanted to reestablish their Welsh roots. In 2005, after a 90 year break, this annual cultural event, now called the Malad Valley Welsh Festival, once again became a reality.
