General George McClellan used Berkeley as a Civil War headquarters, and General Daniel Butterfield composed 'Taps' here. The restored riverfront mansion has antique furnishings and terraced boxwood gardens on the grounds. Open daily 9am-5pm; closed Christmas Day.
