On the campus of Ferrum College, a museum houses changing exhibits about Blue Ridge folklife. A re-created German-American farm illustrates early 19th-century life complete with period furnishings and costumed interpreters. Designated by the State center for Blue Ridge folklore by the Virginia General Assembly in 1986 the institute promotes an understanding of regional folklore both past and present for all ages.
