Staunton River State Park is one of the six original state parks that opened in June 1936. The largest lake in Virginia is one of the parks many attractions. Also included are swimming and wading pools, camping and cabins, a children's playground, a boat launch, riverfront picnicking in picnic shelters, and miles of hiking trails.
