This incredibly lush 170-acre peninsula resort was originally
part of the Durloo plantation owned by the Danish West
India Company. It opened as a resort in 1936, was bought by
Laurance S. Rockefeller in 1952, and joined Rosewood
Resorts 10 years ago.
Tropical furnishings are found in 166 spacious open breeze rooms.
There are still no phones in rooms at Caneel, a tradition ever
since the resort was open. There are seven beaches and 11 tennis courts and meeting rooms.
Jackets are requested for men (during winter season) in two of the
three resort restaurants after 6pm.
