This region comprises more than 20,000 acres of forests, cliffs, vistas, lakes and streams, stretching from the western ridge of the Green Mountains to Lake Dunmore, and from Middlebury Gap to Brandon Gap. Miles and miles of well-maintained trails and quiet country roads offer easy access all through the year.

The Moosalmoo also abounds in history, charming villages, shopping, a state craft center, museums, Lakes Champlain and Dunmore. It also is the home of Middlebury College. Branbury State Park, consisting of 60 acres on Lake Dunmore, provides camping, picnicking, swimming, fishing, hiking, a nature center and boat rentals. It is open from May to October.
